Morgan Stanley Card
06. Feb 2008 at 09:56

Hi All

Just to let you know that I came to the end of my interest free period for balance trasfers on Morgan Stanley (now Goldfish) recently and had cleared my outstanding balance.

Spoke to the customer service dude to say wanted to close the card (credit crunch, not wanting to be over-exposed in terms of credit etc). He made me a couple of offers to retain the card rather than close it, neither of which were attractive as were for 6 months at 5.9% or 3.9%.

Looks like they are not trying to compete with 0% offers on balance transfers or purchases.

Card closed and the country as a whole has now slightly less exposure to the credit crunch.

The existing offer to new customers has been a Life of Balance rate for some months now, so it's not likely they would offer anything but the same as that for existing holders.

Thanks Stooze.

Had seen that some others were offered 5 months 0% on purchases in December, but had no  great expectations (title for a book in there someplace surely!).

Card closed now. Will peruse the table to consider next foray into market in March.
