DMP vs IVA
19. Aug 2009 at 12:30

A few months ago I went on this site for some advice and even after paying some debts initially I'm still in some debt which I am finding it difficult to get out of.
My bank advised me to get in touch with CCCS who created a type of SOA and they said I have £201 remaining to pay to all my creditors. There is 5 in total, with a total debt of £29K.
CCCS have suggested a DMP however assuming interest and charges are frozen it would take approx 10 years, however there is an IVA option where it would take up to 6 years, my concern it also considers equity in the house, the house is worth about £210K and it is mortgaged to £167K, which is an interest only mortgage at present I cant change over to a full repayment. What percentage of equity would they consider, in which case I may as well go with a DMP since it may still come to pay about the same.
